Description

Have you ever wondered where pecan pies come from? Join Rio Ruby and her sidekick, Andre the Armadillo, on their tall tale adventures as they find out! Rio Ruby makes the yummiest pies this side of the Rio Grande, but one day after she's closed her pie shop, she finds out that she's almost out of ingredients. Even worse, all the animals seem to have eaten all the pie-worthy fruit! So, with Andre at her side, she sets out to find a new ingredient to invent a new kind of pie, but one just as delicious and yummy. Though fictional, Rio Ruby Invents the Pecan Pie is an educational tall tale chock-full of interesting pecan facts for young children and early readers, and it provides a recipe in the back for children and their parents to make their very own pies. Families together will love the story (and the fun sidekick!).

Author Biography:

Robin Davis is an educator with a love for all things Texas-related. After retiring from public education, she became a museum educator so she can share the stories of Texas with students from all around the world! With Rio Ruby Invents Pecan Pie as her debut book, Robin believes any time spent reading is time well-spent. When not reading or teaching, you can find Robin playing with her grandsons, hanging out with her dog, or watching her favorite TV shows! Arlo Obregon is a life-long Texan author interested in under-represented parts of regional history. He has published with the City of San Antonio in their Poems for the Tricentennial celebration, narrated podcasts with the People's History of Texas, and worked with the Texas Freedom Network on their media collections. When not involved in public history or archives, Arlo loves hiking, biking, and listening (though not making!) music.
