The Antichrist (German: Der Antichrist) is a book by the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. In ""The Antichrist,"" Nietzsche presents a highly controversial view of Christianity as a damaging influence upon western civilization that must come to an end. Regardless of one's religious or philosophical point of view, ""The Antichrist"" makes for an engaging philosophical discourse. The Antichrist was the last of Nietzsche's works save for his autobiography, Ecco Homo. As such, it may be regarded as a final statement of some of his most important ideas.

Author Biography:

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (15 October 1844 - 25 August 1900) was a German philosopher, cultural critic and philologist whose work has exerted a profound influence on modern intellectual history. He became the youngest person ever to hold the Chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel in 1869 at the age of 24. Nietzsche's works include Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, Twilight of the Idols, The Antichrist, and his autobiography, Ecce Homo.
