Description

From the internationally known Russian master Leo Tolstoy, a searing novella about sex, love jealousy, feminism, and the hyprorisies of marriage. 'The Kreutzer Sonata' is an end-of-the-19th century polemic on the dangers of lust, obsession, and hypocrisy. The themes tackled in this short, sharp tragedy will strike a chord with anyone who has ever loved, lusted and been consumed with a terrible guilt. It will also appeal to anyone interested in sexual politics and feminism. This Modern Library version will draw people into the new, lucid, contemporary introduction to this penetrating criticism of the institution of 19th century marriage, along with new notes, and a readers guide.
