The Fat Controllor needs a new travel Agent, I was expecting a quick guide to our country for the kids but this books seems to have been written by someone who hasn't been to NZ or the South Island. Wellington didn't feature yet the beehive was on the cover, Queenstown got mention for the Remarkables and he went to a rugby game in Christchurch, it's a child's book, he doesn't need to be limited to the existing train tracks. It's a good thomas story with great illustrations but if you want your kids to learn about NZ it's not worth it.

This is a quality product with glossy pages, and although a board book, it is not just for babies as the text is for children who are learning to read. Thomas visits several off-the-beaten-track places in NZ. It is a pity Milford Sound and the Beehive are shown on the cover, as they are not mentioned in the story, but then again, how many of us tell people about every photo we took while on holiday- The illustrations are great with accurate drawings of native bush and birds, hot pools and dolphins, the Remarkables and TSS Earnslaw. I have added the names of these things to the illustrations, to make it more informative. A book I will keep at home for my (numerous) visiting grandchildren to read or have read to them.
