Description

THE NEW YORK SCHOOL FOR PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHO-THERAPY AND PSYCHOANALYSIS, now in its fourth decade, recognizes psychoanalytic psychotherapy as a major professional discipline. The school provides training based on contemporary psychoanalytic theory which integrates the perspectives of drive theory and ego psychology with the contributions of self and object relations theory. The integration of these dimensions of psychoanalytic theory within a developmental frame enables an effective evaluation and treatment of a wide range of patient problems. NYSPP has an absolute charter from the Board of Regents of the State of New York to provide educational training, and offers a comprehensive three year training program leading to a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. A subsequent two year training program leads to a Certificate in Psychoanalysis--a course of study unique in its recognition that those who have a solid foundation in psychoanalytic psychotherapy have a strong background to become psychoanalysts. Featuring Contributions by: Jacob Arlow, Gertrude Blanck, Joyce Edward, Edwin Fancher, Sheila Felberbaum, Jane Hall, Lynn Lawrence, Miriam Pierce, Maryam Razavi-Newman, Lucille Spira, Iris Sugarman, Naomi Schlesinger, Toni Thompson, Patsy Turrini and Diana Siskind.
