My maternal grandfather, John Valentine Campbell, was a private in the US Army during the Spanish-American War. He served in Cuba and the Philippine Islands. John saved letters he received from his oldest sister and two cousins. He also saved letters he received from two sons who served in World War II. These letters have been transcribed and are included in this book. There are also photos of his descendants who have or are serving in the armed forces as well as documents relating to John's cousins who have served.

Author Biography:

Mary Anne Vincent has been doing family history research since 1971. She has published several short monographs of ancestors and two family histories dealing with her father's paternal line and one on his maternal line. Mary Anne serves on the Board of Directors of two California genealogy societies and has made numerous presentations to societies in throughout the state.
