Description

YOGA FOR DRAGON RIDERS is a comprehensive manual on yoga and subtle energy-written for fantasy lovers. Think of it as a "choose your own journey" yoga guide, filled with instantly accessible exercises. This book weaves a theme of empowerment and infinite possibility with how-to instructions on the following topics: - yoga's foundational philosophy - principles of integrity (Yamas and Niyamas) - yoga poses including alignment and sequences - breathing exercises (Pranayama) - meditation - mantra - energy healing - sacred texts, and more! These practices can help you cultivate inner peace, physical wellbeing, and clarity of mind. Though the theme of this training is light-hearted, subjects are covered extensively. This manual has been used in teacher trainings and by yoga teachers to deepen their own knowledge. At the same time, it's an accessible guide to the full spectrum of yoga for the raw beginner. What does yoga have to do with dragons? In the symbolic sense, dragons can represent the energy of the breath. Opening to its nourishing current is like spreading wings. The movement of asana (yoga postures) on your mat can be like riding a dragon, requiring skill, strength, focus, and courage. Dragons are wisdom-keepers, and yoga's wisdom is seemingly infinite. Perhaps you even believe in dragons. Many people do, you know. Dragons have long symbolized power and transformation. To be a Dragon Rider is to claim your power and embrace your personal purpose of your life. What is that purpose? It's up to you to find out. When it comes to the physical practice of yoga, you'll find hundreds of photos and detailed alignment instruction. As with the entire book, the asana section is designed so you can self-customize. You can do the poses that work for your body, and skip anything that isn't right for you right now. Beginners can focus on the single pose descriptions, and build simple sequences. For the advanced and intermediate practitioners, you'll find creative and engaging sequences that will challenge you in the most delightful way! Note: To get the most from the photos and illustrations, the paperback version is recommended. Check Out What Others Are Saying: "Yoga for Dragon Riders is a transformational ROAR!" E. Beeds "This book contains a wealth of illustrated, specific suggestions for all who are interested in yoga on and off the mat." C. Ewy "At first glance I wasn't sure if this book was fiction, adventure, self-help, spiritual or educational. It turns out it is all of the above and much more. The author has created a journey for the reader that is filled with intelligent imagination, hope and the tools to enhance our own personal path with integrity and skill. It provides a guide and resource for anyone seeking a life of authenticity, joy and purpose. I will come back to it over and over again." Author Biography

Katrina Hokule'a Ariel is the author of YOGA FOR DRAGON RIDERS (non-fiction) and WILD HORSE HEART (romance). If you enjoy mantra, check out her music album GRATITUDE. The former host of Yoga Radio and a highly certified yoga instructor, Katrina lives in the highlands of British Columbia. She keeps an eye on the sky in hopes to see dragons. The "YOU DO YOU" policy: Katrina invites each person to practice yoga in the way that is best for them-you are your own guru, your own guide. Katrina likes to do yoga in random places, cartwheel on a whim, and hug trees pretty much anywhere. She's been known to describe herself as "part cat, part elf, and part hobbit," though she occasionally admits that she is also human. Katrina loves to make new friends, so please say hello on Twitter: @KatrinaAriel. You can find her blog at http: //www.YogaWithKatrina.com.
