Author Biography
Berry is the work of a talented 13-year-old girl in the city of Nanjing, eastern China, Serena Gu. Serena says: “If you wonder why a penguin and a polar bear would meet… well, I wondered too. This picture book is a quiet, snowy story, just a journey home, a bit of kindness, and a lot of ice. I drew it in summer, with soft pencils and watery colors, so even the coldest places feel warm. Maybe that’s the point. Some friendships aren’t supposed to make sense on a map.”
