Author Biography
Ila Minnick is a retired operating room nurse whose career began in a rigorous three-year diploma nursing program in the late 1960s. In her memoir, Educated and Trained: Recollections from the Diploma Nursing School Experience, 1968 – 1971, she shares vivid and heartfelt stories from her student nurse days – an era defined by white caps, discipline, and deep devotion to patient care. Ila’s reflections offer a rare glimpse into a transformative time in nursing history and celebrate the resilience of those who trained “on the floor” and learned by doing.
