Why are we talking about Private Rights and Obligations as part of Interstellar Law – especially since such Rights and Obligations are not truly defined in Space Law? Rather, Space Law, as seen in the Appendices to this book, is oriented to the public realm. However, as Private activities – which include corporate activities – such as Space Mining – develop, Private Rights and Obligations will become a major growth area of Interstellar Law.
In this book, we will take the approach of looking at the growth and limitations of the individual, given the individual is the basis of private rights and obligations.
