Author Biography

Drs. Ahmareen Baten and Mo Basith are sister and brother who grew up in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as part of the only Bangladeshi family in town. Their childhood was shaped by the experience of blending cultures-holding tight to their heritage while navigating life in a place where few people looked or lived like them.Ahmareen later married John, whose family has lived in the United States for many generations. Together they are raising their sons, Sami and Noah, in a warm, multicultural home where both their Bangladeshi and American roots are celebrated.Ahmareen and Mohammed wrote this book for kids like Sami and Noah-children growing up between cultures, with names, foods, and traditions that might not always be found in storybooks. They hope this story helps every child feel seen, valued, and proud of who they are.
