Rosco's Chicken

Loving families often vary. This single parent family includes their beloved dog Rosco and mischievous chicken Pick-Pick. In this colorfully illustrated book, the true story of their family is told.

Two little girls live with their Scottish Mum in the beautiful California countryside, where they enjoy playing imaginative games. As Bunny and Kitty, they climb trees and sing made up songs. They are sad that their parents have separated, but enjoy the devoted company of their dog Rosco, who is now the big, protective guardian of the family.

After one of their two chickens is taken from the coop during the night, Pick-Pick, who survived, takes to sleeping in the breezeway, snuggled up under the watchful eye of Rosco. Pick-Pick is often in trouble, scratching up and eating Mum’s seedlings, and stealing the girls’ snacks, but she also provides the family with fresh eggs. Bunny and Kitty collect these eggs with pride.

One day, Pick- Pick and Rosco have too much fun in the yard and create a big mess. Mum decides Pick-Pick should go to live with their nice neighbor who has a chicken run.

Although the yard is peaceful, everyone soon realizes that their Pick -Pick needs to come home to her family. Rosco and his chicken are reunited.
