Sleep Forever

Nightmares not only happen at the darkest hours of the night but also during the light of day. They can terrorize you even when they come in the form of an attractive, light brown skinned middle-aged woman with long flowing dark hair wearing oversized sunglasses. This nightmare has a name, Chief Detective Vera Sanchez. Once again, Wesley Johns, a private fraud investigator, has to put aside the growing stack of fraud cases to prove a friend’s innocents. It began when Marti, Wes’s wife made plans for them to spend the day at a local charity event supporting the Children’s Hospital. She was keen to show off her new golf clubs while Wes hoped to only write out a check and sit out on the patio enjoying cold frosty root beers. Wes’s nightmare began when he went to look for his ball in the trees and Marti offered her assistance where she found a lifeless bloodied body.

Chief Detective Vera Sanchez threatened to toss Wes in jail if he interfered with her case, and Wes promised he wouldn’t. But he was haunted by those words that someone in the crowd uttered after the discovery of the bloodied body, “She got what she deserved.” He couldn’t help himself but investigate.

It was up to Wes too prove his friend’s innocents and place the real killer behind bars. When Marti’s bumbling brother, Christopher Andew Legget and self-proclaimed crime solving partner heard about the murder, he insisted on helping. That was the last thing Wes needed, especially after the last investigation which almost cost Wes his life.
The further Wes dug the more he began to realize, each suspect had deep down buried secret they didn’t want exposed along with a possible motive for wanting the victim dead, even his friend. The deeper he dug the more he realized not only his life but also Marti’s was in jeopardy. He called upon the only one he trusted to watch his back if things took a turn for the worse. Oz, his eighty-plus pounds of pure muscle Collie with pearly whites.
