Summer of White Thang

They went looking for one monster. They found two.

For Austin Johnson and his three best friends, the summer of ’88 was a swamp of boredom and suffocating heat. Their only escape is Austin’s clunky camcorder and a wild, reckless plan: to solve the disappearance of a local teenage girl by proving she was taken by a monster.

While the town whispers of a human predator and the sheriff suspects a runaway, the boys know the real culprit lurks in the deep woods: a terrifying creature of local legend known as the White Thang. But when their search uncovers a monstrous footprint and their camera captures a bloodcurdling scream on tape, their game becomes a terrifying reality.

Their hunt for evidence attracts the attention of the Mullinax clan, a reclusive and violent family of poachers who rule the woods with shotguns and secrets. The boys quickly learn that the legendary White Thang isn’t the only monster they have to fear.

Trapped in a silent war on two fronts, they hold a terrible secret: a videotape containing proof of the impossible. But this proof is also a poison. Showing it will make them sound crazy, and burying it will mean abandoning a missing girl to her fate. To save her, they must go deeper into the heart of the darkness, a place where a territorial creature of impossible power and a clan of ruthless men are on a collision course-with the boys caught directly in the middle.
