Sweet Emotions is a book created by me off the emotions that my mother’s

cooking & love for cooking & sharing it with others would bring. I hope

everything within the covers of this book to bring those sweet emotions.

When you would enjoy a great meal you get an unbelievable rush & can’t

wait for the next plate. That is what my mother’s food brought & I hope my

word to do the same to have you wanting the next poem to have the feeling

of ‘Sweet Emotions’ when you read my words. Then the same after you cook

each recipe. The book takes you from your appetizers to your desserts.

Textured with the sights & sounds of growing up in Texas, these poems tackle

racism, sexism, displacement, heartbreak & grief yet also love, motherhood,

spirituality & Black joy. Sure to fed the mind, heart & tummy with recipes.
