Set in the coastal town of Mirissa, Sri Lanka, the story follows Simon and his young son, Samudra, who narrowly escapes the devastating 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami by chance, while his mother is tragically lost to the waves. With their home destroyed, Simon and Samudra find shelter in a cave on a cliff, where the boy becomes known as “the little boy from the cave.”
