Florida’s “Net Ban” affected more than the fish. To the commercial fisher it meant an end to a way of life. A loss of heritage and the pride of self sufficiency. To the recreational fisher it meant fishing waters unaffected by gill netting hopefully leading to larger catches. To the environmentalist it supposedly was a win for the environment. To the developer it meant abandoned coastal properties once used by commercial fishers were now available to develop. Follow the exploits of the fishers, developers, politicians, lawyers, con men and a 1970s terrorist running from the past. Throw in a drug running preacher and a Vietnam era pilot and you have a normal day on Florida’s Forgotten Coast. It is the officers of the Florida Marine Patrol who have to try and sort them all out.
