was a priest in the Church of England, Honorary Canon of Manchester Cathedral and Canon Residentiary of Chester Cathedral. He wrote three books, Love’s Endeavour, Love’s Expense, The Stature of Waiting and Fare Well in Christ, all of which are regarded as modern-day classics of Christian spirituality.
