Among the four Gospels, John stands apart. It’s intimate, poetic, theologically rich, and deeply personal. John doesn’t just tell the story of Jesus. He invites you to believe it, follow him, and let him change your life.
But reading John can feel like wandering through unfamiliar terrain. It moves from story to symbolism, from signs to sermons. And its most famous passages are often the most misunderstood.
That’s where Trail Guide to the Gospel of John comes in. With pastor, teacher, and fellow traveler Shane Bishop as your guide, you’ll explore this Gospel with fresh eyes. Through engaging commentary, historical context, and relatable application, you’ll:
Understand the unique structure and purpose of John’s Gospel
Learn how Jesus’ miracles function as signs that point to something deeper
Discover why John emphasizes belief, identity, and eternal life
See how John complements-and challenges-what you know from the other Gospels
Find your footing in the stories, and walk away with lasting truth for your own journey
Each chapter reads like a stage of a hike, helping you stop at key moments, take in the big picture, and notice what you might have missed. Whether you’re new to the Bible or looking to reignite your understanding of this Gospel, this guide offers a clear and thoughtful path forward.
