Not everyone on North Uist believes in fairies. But everyone knows about Tweederick. He’s not the kind with wings or glitter. He doesn’t grant wishes or live in a toadstool. No, Tweederick is… different. He’s small, with a head full of wild, rusty curls. He wears stripy socks (never matching), a tartan scarf that flaps like a kite in the Hebridean wind, and trousers that might’ve once belonged to someone’s grandfather. He doesn’t fly. But he does appear-when you least expect it. Especially when something odd has happened. A wheelbarrow full of jelly? A sheep stuck in the school cloakroom? A ceilidh with bagpipes and spaghetti? It’s probably Tweederick. But sometimes, even the cheekiest fairy wonders if he’s… too different. The story is both in English and Scottish Gaelic, making it fun for everyone.
