Dax Riggs returns after 14 years. The former Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion and Deadboy & the Elaphentmen frontman is announcing his first new album since 2010’s Say Goodnight to the World. From the swamps of southern Louisiana comes the apocalyptic folk rock of Dax Riggs: starting with the teenage death metal of Acidbath on through the gothic dixie-fried trash rock of deadboy and the Elephantmen, Dax has opened for artists as diverse as Queens of the Stone Age to Leon Russell. Like Leadbelly with a devil on his back…Outsider music, for your dying radios, in the basement at the end of the world.
The Austin Chronicle called the album “gritty punk-blues”, writing that “\[Riggs’s\] gothic-noir lullabies … are carried by a voice that still conjures the ghost of Layne Staley.” Spin wrote that Say Goodnight to the World “plops Sun Studios into the middle of Transylvania, with Riggs as a pensive, late-night Elvis.” The Washington Post wrote that the album “may be \[Riggs’s\] best … a darkly psychedelic exorcism.”
