“Avvik” translates to “anomaly” or “deviation”. Although TAAKE is one of the most important bands in the Norwegian BLACK METAL scene, they have always been outside the mainstream of the genre.
“Avvik” is a particular collection of songs, as the album compiles songs that never really fit into any of the Taake releases, and therefore ended up on three split-10s “with Whoredom Rife, Deathcult and Helheim, now released.
All tracks have been remixed and remastered and some of the remixes have some surprising guest appearances: Sigh’s Doctor Mikannibal played her saxophone at a slightly longer version of the Sisters of Mercy cover “ Heartland “, guitarist Gjermund made an acoustic version of “Nattestid ser Porten vid I”. “Avvik” closes a chapter for Taake and opens a new one.
