Commanding a firestorm of fan response, Halsey’s Room 93 EP went Top 10 on the overall iTunes charts in 17 countries upon its release. Also, due to overwhelming demand, Halsey’s recently-announced debut London show in September was upgraded to a larger venue after selling out in under a minute. The larger venue also then sold out immediately! Her winter US headline tour also sold out within minutes and she soared to #1 on both Billboard’s Emerging Artists and Billboard’s Trending Artists charts in addition to becoming a worldwide trending topic on Twitter multiple times. She also genuinely stole the show at SXSW as the 2015 fest’s “Most Tweeted Artist.”
Press has fallen head over heels for her. Elle featured Halsey as part of its annual “Women in Music” issue alongside Florence + the Machine and Tinashe commenting, “I anticipated a duality of character, but I never expected the raw honesty of a performer who so aptly communicates the polarity of emotion through her art,” also describing her as an “electropop wunderkind.” Billboard praised how “she likes to keep listeners on their toes,” while Nylon wrote, “She’s like an M&M: A hard coating with sweet insides.”Noisey claimed, “She’s shown no signs of stopping that streak.
