Cloud City is a city-building and planning 3D strategy game designed by Phil Walker-Harding and illustrated by Fabrice Ros. Players build their city model by strategically positioning buildings and walkways to optimize the number of points they earn.
The Goal of the Game
In Cloud City, you will be competing against other architects to create a city model made of buildings that are connected by walkways, in a 3×3 lot. You will get to see what your project would look like from above the clouds!
The goal is to have the most or longest walkways to get the most City Council votes at the end of the game and win the competition.
The Steps
First, pick a tile and strategically position it in your lot, then place the corresponding buildings on it.
Second, pick the walkways corresponding to the height of the buildings you want to connect and the distance separating them.
River walkways connect the smallest buildings, Forest walkways connect midsize buildings, and Sand walkways connect the tallest buildings.
Counting the Points
At the end of the game, count the City Council votes you earned from the walkways you have built. Walkways are worth 1, 2, 3, 5, or 8 council votes each, based on their length.
The architect who earns the most votes gets their model selected and wins the game!
The game also includes 10 Special Request cards. For a variation, you can play with one or two of these cards. They feature special conditions which, if realized, will make you earn or lose City Council votes.
