Sometimes, a person feels down and it is either because he or she is sick, stressed, heartbroken, depressed, etc. And when a person feels this way, he or she greatly needs comfort or to feel comforted. Comfort cannot only be obtained from other people but also from food and this is where the term comfort food was introduced. Comfort food refers to any food that can bring you comfort physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically upon consumption. In other words, this term is used to describe food items and meals that you turn to when you need to feel comforted. Comfort food is comforting because it soothes and relaxes the body to ease feelings of discomfort, it keeps the mind off stress, and it calms your emotions and makes you happy.

Cooking enthusiast and foodie, Valerie Alston is the author of various cooking related books and essays. She was born in United States and at the moment lives there with her family. Valerie is happily married and has two kids. She became her writing career several years ago, however only recently she became a published author.
