Author Biography
Sandie Barrie has a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. She has been married to the same practical man for 42 years, has three children and five grandchildren. Barrie is a registered nurse and she has focused 20 years of her nursing career around bedside nursing. She has worked in facilities for the mentally ill and mentally retarded; nursing homes; and small and large hospitals. For 10 years, Barrie devoted her time to hospital performance (quality) improvement and case management programs. For five years, she worked on a variety of healthcare projects that included collecting data on nursing home patients, completing utilization review functions, and working on state and national health care initiatives regarding patient safety and hospital/nursing home performance improvement indicators. During the last five years, Barrie worked with an employer coalition where she facilitated education to employers on health care initiatives in a series called, “Building Common Knowledge” along with being the Nevada Coordinator for the Leapfrog Hospital Patient Safety Initiative. Barrie has established her public writing career with her first book, Find Your Time: Assess, Plan, Do, Check, Review.
