What do we eat to maximize our health? For many years health professionals have promoted the benefits of a Mediterranean diet—where olive oil, tomatoes, legumes and grains are staples. Healthy Eating for Life is the second cookbook by acclaimed BBC/Masterpiece Theatre actor and author Robin Ellis since he moved from England to the south of France. Known locally in the food markets of Lautrec not for his acting career, but also as “the Anglais who cooks,” Robin had developed a passion for simple, healthy food—a passion that fills the pages of this book. It is his bid to inspire more people to eat delicious, home-cooked food as part of a lifestyle that promotes optimal health. Diagnosed in 1999 with type 2 diabetes, Robin has changed the way he eats. Doing so, and adding more exercise to his daily routine, he managed his blood sugar sufficiently to avoid taking medication for six years. He believes that anyone can learn to cook dishes that are simple, delicious and healthy.
