When my well-adjusted, prematurely wise son suggested, “Get a life, MOM,” I was shocked, but without thinking twice, I took his somewhat cheeky, yet, thought-provoking advice and got a life. BOY — DID I GET A LIFE! This rapidly aging bird flew the coop – via TWA! I left my tear-soaked, empty nest in the California dust, and joyously migrated to Paris, France! I took to the air with two bulging K-Mart wide-belly suitcases; one seriously emaciated bank account; an excess of self-confidence; and last, but not least, my little “hotdog” and main squeeze… Sport Dachshund!
Author Biography
As a native Chicagoan, Donna grew up with a love for music and art, studied both, and at sixteen became one of the youngest performing musicians in Chicago. She later put her career on hold to become a fulltime wife and mother. Her youngest, Erik, plays a major role in her memoir, but she also had a beautiful, disabled daughter named Lisa, and was equally proud to cheer her on as she competed in swimming, placing a strong second in the 1975 Special Olympics. After moving to Paris, Donna spent twelve exciting and fantastic years in a loving relationship with her “Parisian fancy man,” Pierre, while pursuing her second career as a full time artist/oil painter. She is pleased to have been a founding member of the thriving Association d’artistes; “Les Seize Anges.” Among others, she presented two major exhibitions yearly for twelve consecutive years, and participated in the “Salon Des Indépendants” at Au Grand-Palais. In addition, she was honored to have two exhibitions in the Université Sorbonne’s prestigious “Galerie Soufflot” with a much-appreciated standing invitation to return for a third year. To this day, she remains artiste en permanance at La Galerie Palette d’Or in Paris.
