Author Biography
Terry Patterson is a licensed architect, a professor of architecture at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, and the author of several respected books in the field. He has 32 years of professional and teaching experience. He is the author of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Meaning of Materials (Van Nostrand Reinhold), Construction Materials for Architects and Designers (Prentice-Hall), and co-author of Architectural Drawing and Design (Macmillan). He also wrote the Student Workbook and Instructor’s Manual for Van Nostrand Reinhold’s Construction: Principles, Materials, and Methods. He is a professional member of Building Officials & Code Administrators International, Inc. Always thorough in his research, he based this current book not only on his own extensive experience, but also on his detailed study of change proposals and public hearings for the new code, the three model codes on which the new code is based, and on numerous interviews and surveys with other architects and code officials.
