Author Biography
Kat Quin is the creative force behind Illustrated Publishing, launching her debut book Kuwi’s First Egg 11 years ago. The beloved series has since sold over 450,000 copies. Kat partnered with Pānia Papa to co-create the award-winning Kuwi & Friends Māori Picture Dictionary. In 2025, Kuwi’s First Egg was honoured with the Storylines Gaelyn Gordon Award for a Much-Loved Book. Beyond storytelling, Kat’s proudest achievement is raising over $70,000 for kiwi conservation through book sales.
Her stories are filled with heart, humour, and a touch of cheekiness, often inspired (and critiqued) by her 6 kids. The Kuwi the Kiwi series draws from real-life parenting moments, from fussy eaters to wild, wonderful chaos.
