Luckless is a two-piece band from Auckland. Will Wood and Ivy Rossiter began performing as a
duo in early 2011 after Rossiter got tired and lonely from slogging away as a solo project. Wood has performed in projects as diverse as Bernie Griffen and the Grifters, The Murderchord and Canadia.
Early beginnings as a solo project saw Rossiter crafting a five song EP as Luckless, at home on a four track tape machine, her signature guitar and vocals bolstered by drum machines and a Hammond organ. A moody, sombre Christmas song was included on the Little Monster Studios compilation “A Very Little Christmas” in 2010, and Luckless supported twee-pop darlings First Aid Kit at a soldout show late in the same year.
The inclusion of Wood saw Luckless expand into the duo that exists today, and within months they found themselves at Roundhead Studios recording the beginnings of their first album.
