Author Biography
Susie Rich was raised in Cincinnati, OH, and has spent her career working in the social work/homelessness prevention field. Several years ago, she began to pursue her passion for writing. She has published a series of children’s books known for featuring diverse characters and protagonists of color, including The Whale, the Ocean, the Duck, and the Pond (2018), DUANE: Don’t Underestimate Any Natural Elements (2017), I Don’t Care What You Wear as Long as It’s Clean (2015), Too Much Hopscotch (2014), and How My Daddy Taught Me to Dance (2014). She has also written a number of short stories and is currently working on a novel. She resides near Boston, MA, with her husband, Douglas. Ivan Espinoza-Madrigal is one of Obie’s dads. He is an openly gay Latino immigrant with a passion for racial and social justice. He is the executive director of Lawyers for Civil Rights, an organization that provides free legal support to people of color, immigrants, and low-income people. His legal work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times. His writing has been published by the Boston Globe, WBUR, WGBH, and Huffington Post. He resides in Boston, MA, with his husband, Seth.
