Popular French Cinema

Of all world cinemas, Hollywood excepted, France has had the most consistent record of production and popularity. Author Biography

Ginette Vincendeau is Professor of Film at Kings College University of London and writes for publications including ‘Sight & Sound’, ‘Positif’ and ‘Screen’. Her many books on French cinema include ‘Stars and Stardom in French Cinema’ (2000) and ‘Jean-Pierre Melville, An American in Paris’ (2003). She is Series Editor of Tauris’s Cine-files French Film Guides series and author of the Cine-file on ‘La Haine’.
