DR GEORGE THOMSON is an Honorary Research Fellow in the College of Arts, Glasgow University, with expertise in lettering, calligraphy and typography. His work has been widely exhibited and he has written more than fifteen books. His papers have been published regularly in international journals, and he is an acknowledged authority of inscriptional palaeography.
