Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II is a single-engine, single seater 5th Generation fighter developed with three distinct variants, each enjoying extremely low observability and excellent connectivity: the F-35A, F-35B and the F-35C – aircraft have been delivered since 2015. The F-35C has larger wings and horizontal and vertical stabilizers than other F-35 variants and folding wingtips in light of its carrier deployment design, as well as a larger fuel capacity and a reinforced nose landing gear with dual tires to help it withstand the punishment of carrier landings, plus a launch bar for catapult assisted takeoffs. Its low observability promises to give U.S. Navy operations a new dimension.
