The Challenges to Nuclear Power in the Twenty-First Century

This volume is the proceedings of the Global Foundations Inc.‘s 22nd International Energy Forum, held November 5-6, 1999, and contains presentations by nuclear experts from around the world, including several officials of the US Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The papers address the need for nuclear energy in the new century; the issues of competition with other energy sources; the position of nuclear power in the context of critical global and environmental problems; the necessity of commercial nuclear power development to deal with nuclear arms proliferation; and the necessity to counter the prejudices and obstacles to the development of nuclear energy sources.
