Charley Harry was born out of something to amuse my Grand children, while they were suffering from acute boredom. I just [as the title suggests] talked into a recorder, making up stories of Charley Harry type logic. A somewhat eccentric character, whose thinking takes a sideways route, instead of the so called correct route. How boring we can be. The tapes are total anarchy, comprising the Charley Harry narrative, and the bedlam of three active children, who were waiting to get to the freedom of Greenwich Park. But amazingly, Nathan, my Grandson, started quoting the opening paragraphs. Obviously I was much taken with the fact that Charley Harry had made an impression on him. So I stand before you, pleading guilty to the travesty that is Charley Harry. And I ask you to forgive him, mainly because a little bit of him exists in us all. [I believe] My Grandson tells me he likes Charley Harry, because he is such an idiot. I like him, because he reminds me of time spent with my Grandchildren.
