Published in 1922, The Red House Mystery is A. A. Milne’s only detective novel and a remarkably clever one at that. Set in a quiet English manor, the story begins with a shocking murder behind a locked door. Enter Antony Gillingham, a curious outsider who decides to play detective alongside his quick-witted friend. What follows is a sharply plotted mystery filled with dry humour, crisp dialogue, and satisfying twists.Milne, better known for his children’s stories, brings a light touch to the genre while still crafting an engaging and intellectually playful puzzle.
