Author Biography
Prof. Dr. Friedemann Mattern ist Professor fur Informatik an der ETH Zurich und leitet dort das Fachgebiet ‘Verteilte Systeme’. Er war zuvor als Professor an der Universitat des Saarlandes in Saarbrucken und an der Technischen Universitat Darmstadt tatig, wo er u.a. das Graduiertenkolleg ‘Infrastruktur fur den elektronischen Markt’ grundete. Mit seinem Ruf an die ETH Zurich im Jahr 1999 begann er mit dem Aufbau einer Forschungsgruppe fur Ubiquitous Computing und ist seitdem an Industriekooperationen und europaischen Forschungsprojekten zu diesem Thema beteiligt. Seine Lehrtatigkeit umfasst die Gebiete verteilte Systeme und Algorithmen, Rechnernetze, Ubiquitous Computing sowie Grundlagen der Informatik.”
