Being the Music Gorilla here at Mighty Ape means I listen to music all day long and am constantly on the hunt for more so I thought I'd put together a list of my most anticipated albums coming in the next few months. Without further ado, let's jump right in head first and run through my list! (in no particular order)

I'm going to go right ahead and say that 2015 has already trumped 2014 in terms of music releases, with a tonne still to come before the year end!

Leon Bridges – Coming Home – For me personally, there are few artist in music that give me goosebumps when listening. Leon Bridges is one of these people and has quickly become one of my most played artists.

At a ripe age of only 25 it's clear that Leon Bridges possesses a soul and talent far beyond his years and is making some of today's most timeless music. One listen of his phenomenal track ‘Coming Home’ and I'm sure you'll agree!

Well, it's safe to say that Christmas fever is most definitely upon us!

With that comes the added stress of finding the perfect gift. We've made things easy and put together this handy list of the top 5 Pop albums to treat that special someone this Christmas!

1. Taylor Swift – 1989

1989 is a touchstone; Taylor's songwriting and sonic evolution surprises us more than ever before. Heavily keyboard and beat driven, the pop sensibilities that have always been the hallmark of Taylor’s music now move front and centre on 1989.

I spent two years making 1989. Two years gives you enough time to grow and change and let things inspire you. I was listening to a lot of late 80's pop music and how bold those songs were and how that time period was a time of limitless possibilities

After over a million sales and still going strong, Pop's new queen Taylor Swift has released a new music video for her track “Blank Space” taken from her amazing new album 1989.

1989 is a touchstone; Taylor's songwriting and sonic evolution surprises us more than ever before. Heavily keyboard and beat driven, the pop sensibilities that have always been the hallmark of Taylor’s music now move front and centre on 1989.

I'm going to go right ahead and say I quite enjoyed this track, along with the majority of the album after a few listens :)

Well my fellow Rock fans, the day has finally come!

Sonic Highways by The Foo Fighters, arguably the most anticipated album of 2014 is in stock & shipping now.

Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, Sonic Highways shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music. For the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns.

The hugely anticipated new album, .5 The Gray Chapter from veterans of Metal and all things heavy, Slipknot is in stock and shipping now!

Surely as iconic as any band in the annals of rock, Slipknot has starred on the cover of innumerable national and international publications, from Rolling Stone, SPIN, and Alternative Press to Guitar World, Revolver, and Billboard. What’s more, Slipknot has received myriad honors, awards, and nominations, including a Grammy Award for “Best Metal Performance” as well as six further Grammy nods, multiple Kerrang! Awards, Revolver Golden Gods Awards, NME Awards, and Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, and nods for both MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards.

I've listened to the album a few times now and am thoroughly digging the majority of it. My favourite track right now would have to be “Custer” with it's face melting tempo, making it utterly impossible to not bang your head in approval. Taylor's vocals are as passionate and aggressive as ever with some of the bands best work in years.
