Spiders have managed to let us down somewhat with past releases, but with Greedfall, they show that they’re getting there! The graphics are solid, the landscapes and cities beautifully rendered… And there’s a lot to see and do! The story is interesting and the political factions keep you mindful of the consequences of your actions. The recruitable companions are varied, with interesting quests of their own, but there’s a distinct lack of banter between you and them as you’re running around (like in Dragon Age Inquisition). And there is A LOT of running around. A tedious amount. Quests sometimes seem rather disorganised, zig zagging backwards and forwards (just not thought out properly-). The creatures encountered are rather monotonous and there aren’t a lot of them – some more time filling the world with copious and various mysterious creatures would have helped with the boredom aspect. The combat is ok, pretty simple, though interesting enough to keep you wanting more combat! All in all, a solid effort! One that takes successfully from other RPGs, just not enough to make it one of the greats! I hope Spiders continues to get better, because they ARE on the right track!!
