Air
In the near future, breathable air is non-existent. Virtually all of humanity has disappeared and those chosen to re-establish society reside in a controlled state of suspended animation. Two engineers (Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou) tasked with guarding the last hope for mankind struggle to preserve their own sanity and lives while administering to their vital task at hand.
Air Reviews
“Reedus is always quietly electric in his performances, something which he executes again here. Hounsou provides spectators with a character who has taken on the psychological burden of being underground with just one companion – for however long (again, the audience are never informed) – as he starts to act in questionable ways. The cracks in the duo’s friendship lends to a genuine sense of tension, meaning the narrative can’t be predetermined by its audience. The big draw for AIR will be the presence of Reedus, along with his WD collaborators David Alpert and Robert Kirkman – both of which serve as executive producers here.” – ScreenRelish
“The production design is equally as effective as the performances. The facility looks as industrial and cobbled together as it’s supposed to, and creates a palpable sense of claustrophobia. Brief glimpses of the dead, ashen world above sell the feeling of immense isolation. It’s like a small-scale version of John Carpenter’s The Thing.” – CutPrintFilm
