The acerbic, hilarious Claire Simmons (Jennifer Aniston) becomes fascinated by the suicide of a woman in her chronic pain support group. As she uncovers the details of Nina's suicide and develops a poignant relationship with Nina's husband, she also grapples with her own, very raw personal tragedy.
Jennifer Aniston gives a fine, if self-conscious, performance as Claire Bennett, the grieving, pain-wracked, pill-popping, hard-drinking heroine in this well-made but manipulative drama. She has a hauteur and vicious tongue that remind us of Elizabeth Taylor in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? mode. – Independent UK
*“I was in pain during this indie drama, which may explain why I enjoyed it. Jennifer Aniston stars as Claire, a rich woman on the verge of suicide who pops Percocet to ease the (physical and emotional) agony caused by a recent car accident. She also wears unflattering clothes, tells lies, is morbidly obsessed with home-made cakes and complains. A lot.” – Standard UK
