While I am usually an epic fan of all things “Final Fantasy,” “Dirge of Cerebus” left a lot to desire.
I enjoyed the clean, and tidy story line, which answered a lot of questions, as well as creating new questions, leaving a lot of room for a sequel. Although, it didn't make up for the games' shortcomings.
The experience points goals were far too out of reach for the length of the game, which played almost like a train simulator. I felt like I was stuck on a rail way line. The rare times that you do get some freedom, it's more like you are stuck in the area untill you figure out a puzzle, and get the hell out of the room. Once you have killed everything in a room, there's nothing else to do. No boxes to open, and no NPC's to talk to.
The equipment seems like it was an afterthought, not making any real difference to the game, at all.
As a shooter fan? Yeah, you should borrow it off a friend, or hire it from a DVD store. As a “Final Fantasy” fan? Give it a complete miss.
