Description

This funny, rhyming picture book teaches children about cycles of nature and growing their own vegetables. Grandpoppa Poptop can't understand why his vegetable plants won't grow, even though he works hard every day. One day a horse in the next paddock leaves him a present. As a result, Grandpoppa embarks on an amusing journey of discovery of how to make compost using various animal manures, leaves and ash. He is a delighted gardener in the end.

Author Biography:

Sue Hall is a freelance editor and proofreader who writes books in her spare time -- and tends her vegetable garden, family and friends in the rest of it. She has previously written non-fiction books, most recently Queenstown - Stories Behind the Scenery (Hachette, 2009) and Rotorua - Stories Behind the Scenery (Hachette, 2009). Her new-found passion, however, is in writing and illustrating children's books, each inspired by her love of plants, vegetable gardening and our beautiful planet.
