I have reviewed this with my (YA loving) Adult view and also on the merits on whether it is fine for a 10 year old to review.
Do I think its a book Adult YA readers will enjoy – Yes if you want a lighthearted book that makes you laugh at the quips and situations the characters get into. If you want a more adult type story then go find an adult book based on Norse Mythology.
Will 10 year olds/teens/school kids love it – Heck yeah of course, I know that my grandson will be giggling away when he is reading parts of the book.
Having only watched the films Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and not read this series this review is based purely on this book as its the first I have ever picked up by Rick Riordan.
I have read a few books based on the mythology of the Norse tales of old gods, and I am currently reading The Prose Edda so I do know that Mr Riordan has done some research, even if he has taken his own twist ( as an author should) for this series.
Do I think I want to continue reading the Magnus Chase books – heck yeah. I had only intended to read a chapter or so to check that my grandson would be fine reading it, and that was that… I didn't put it down and had to order another copy!
So I guess I will be looking out for book 2 soon and also picking up the other series and seeing if my inner child loves these too.
