Playlist: The Very Best of Nas is as inaccurately titled as Columbia's 2007 compilation Greatest Hits. The two releases contain 14 songs each – 10 of which overlap – and lack the right content to offer the greatest or very best. This is an improvement, however, as it contains “Halftime” and “The World Is Yours,” both of which were inexplicably left off Greatest Hits. Beyond that, the differences are insignificant for the casual fan. This contains one to four cuts from each of Nas' seven proper Columbia albums, from 1994's Illmatic through 2004's Street's Disciple, with the debut appropriately the most heavily represented. All seven of the MC's Top 20 R&B/Hip-Hop singles are here, along with other representative cuts, but it's still more of a sampler than a proper anthology.
