American hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd (pronouced Ray-Shrim-er) are heading to Auckland this October for one headline show at the Studio.
Brothers Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee grew up in the projects in Tupelo, Mississippi. In a true rags-to-riches tale, Rae Sremmurd was signed by Ear Drummer Records label owner and multi-platinum producer Mike WiLL Made-It (Rihanna, Jay Z, Kanye West, 2 Chainz, Future, Juicy J) in January 2014. The breakthrough single “No Flex Zone” was released just five months later – it peaked at #36 on the mainstream charts and was certified platinum in the US after selling a million copies.
No Flex Zone and follow up singles “No Type” and “Throw Some Mo” (featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug) were #1 urban airplay hits in the US. Rae Sremmurd’s debut album Sremmlife opened at at a very respectable #5 on the US Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard Hip Hop charts in January this year.
