‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ is the highly anticipated debut album by
Scottish trio, CHVRCHES. In little more than twelve months, CHVRCHES have come
out of nowhere to be everywhere. There’s a lot to catch up on since they
posted their first song, ‘Lies’, online last May – a place in the top
five of the BBC Sound of 2013, sell out headline tours in the UK, US (the most
recent US tour playing to almost 20,000 people over 18 shows) and Australia, a
triumphant, award-winning appearance at SXSW and a string of stadium dates with
Depeche Mode, to name but a few. Consisting of Lauren Mayberry, a soprano with
cut-glass, sci-fi vocals rounded off with warm Glaswegian tones; Iain Cook and
Martin Doherty, a pair of production wizards creating the music with banks of
analogue synths, gut-punching bass and guitar. The singles “The Mother We
Share”, “Gun”, and “Recover” have all been supported by bNets, George
FM and Kiwi with potential ZM crossover. CHVRCHES have been confirmed to play
Laneway Festival in 2014 in Auckland.
