Almodovar is according to me the best film-maker alive, but not all his films justify that praise. This one is just too far out to make it into my best-of category of the man, who best (to me) remain Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, All About My Mother, Talk to Her and Volver.
That said, this is nontheless a clever and philosophically challenging work, and it wasn't boring to watch. Almodovar's films are deceptively simple and this one has moments of clear simplicity that make me admire him more perhaps than he deserves.
